    Hi,
I need help... I bought a laptop one month ago. It came with Windows XP Home, now I should install XP Pro. As Toshiba technical service rep. told this computer is only for xp home. But he adviced to ask technical person. There is a configuration which I should do before starting installing. Can anyone help or send instractions for installing windows xp pro edition on this laptop ?

    Computer : Toshiba Satellite M105-S3011
    Thanks and Best Regards.

Orhan - Welcome to the Board :)

I see no reason whatsoever why you should not install XP Pro on your laptop, nor do I see any particular need for a particular configuration except that the boot order should be CD-Rom > Hard Drive - I guess there is no floppy drive.

You can generally change the boot order on laptops from one of the first screens you see on booting up, but the default is generally CD-ROM first.

I assume you have an unused copy of XP Pro - you are aware that you can only install from the CD to one computer only? Installs to other computers will work, but you will not be able to activate the OS.

I an not sure if the recovery disk which you may have will be sufficient evidence of ownership to permit the use of an XP Pro Upgrade CD. You may need a full copy, I cannot be sure on this.

However, this is the procedure you should follow (from my notes which assume you already have a version of XP installed - much of the wording is takrn from the installation screens) .....
