I just upgraded my notebook from a Dell D800 to a D830 with both running WinXP SP2 and both were connected to the same HP Laserjet 1100.

I extensievely (everyday) used hibernation on the D800 and every time I re-used this PC the HP printer (connected as LPT1) worked perfectly.

Now with the new D830 when I use hibernation, the PC/applns work fine except for the printer which displays a "Document failed to print" error msg.

If I reboot the PC the printer will work OK.

Un-installing and re-installing the printer does nothing to fix this.

There seems to be some problem with hibernation that is glitching the connection to the printer.

    Anybody have any ideas, suggestions...?

Might try Device Manager->USB Root Hubs->Disable the power saver feature.
