I didn't think that sound cards just up and died. Uninstalled/reinstalled all drivers. Ran the Win98 troubleshooter. Ran some test schemes, sounds appear to play, but nothing from the speakers. Same with audio CD. Speakers are plugged in properly, can hear audio static cranking the volume knob on the speaker itself. Guesses?

Basic question - have you physically removed the card and replugged?

Thanks Pete, was just getting ready to crack the case, and tried one last time removing all evidence of the card/drivers. Did another full install, but didn't let Win detect it. Got it working. Thanks..

Yes, sound cards do just die out. Had two of several I maintain that went bad - one was still in warranty.

Glad to hear the driver solved your problem.
