I have an old Epson workforce 500 printer. I see drivers for a windows 10 64bit on their website. Do I update the drivers after the 10 install or before? Will the new drivers work with my current Windows 7? Are they backwards compatible?

Hi Alicia. Install Windows 10 first then install the drivers for your printer from this link, Epson WorkForce 500 All-in-One Printer.

There are Windows 10 drivers available for that printer so make sure you pick the Windows 10 OS before downloading the new drivers.

Hi Alicia J, If you are going to Upgrade from W7 To W10 this experience may help you.
Last evening I connected my W7 HDD and Started the comp. W7 OS came up as normal and I played around checking the latest versions of both FF and TB (Mozilla) and they both updated.
I did a clean out of Temp files etc. and carried out a Defrag with Auslogics. After this was completed, I noted the W10 Icon was in the Systray and thought I might try an Upgrade using the DVD I had burned when I Upgraded my laptop from W8.1.
All went well till it wanted the Product key. I put in the 25 digits and the message said it was wrong - to try again. I entered the Insider Preview Product key - still wouldn't accept it. So I shut down the comp and took out my DVD disc.
The comp told me it was installing 1 out of 8 updates. Don't turn off your comp etc. etc. I left it to do it's thing and shut down - then I Started the comp again and had a look in the W10 Icon.
The message appeared that the Upgrade was ready to go, so I clicked on the button to install and the message said it was taking a few seconds to check a few things.
The rotating ball kept going and going and after about an hour. I decided nothing was happening and Task Manager showed no activity - so I closed the install and shut down the comp.
I then Rebooted the comp and went into > Start > Control Panel > Windows Update > and there was a message saying W10 was ready to Download!!!
I said OK and sat back and watched. 1¼ hours later W10 was fully installed and up and running as smooth as.
I'm using this comp with the Upgrade from W7 to W10 now. I thought my little adventure might help as I've been reading how easily users/BBS members are getting frustrated with their Upgrade from W7 which seems to be the one giving the problems.
My other Upgrades have all been flawless - from W8.1 to W10.
Sorry about the long Post but I thought it may help you and others who might get the rotating ball going for ages and be frightened to do anything about it in case something stuffed up. All the best with your install. ;) Neil.

Thanks Evan for the link to the driver. I'll install Windows 10 first.

Thanks for sharing your experience Neil.

I'm not quite ready to do the upgrade yet but want to be as prepared as I can be for it, starting with a full disk image backup.
