I've noticed in Task Manager that there are two entries: ccsetmgr.exe and ccevtmgr.exe. They are required and installed by Symantec products (antivirus, security, etc.). Between them they use over 60mb of memory! The only Symantec product I have is Norton Ghost which I have disabled and use entirely on a manual basis and never schedule anything. Would anyone know if it might be detrimental to my system if I deleted these .exe's?

    Thank you. :)

If you are CERTAIN about-> "They are required and installed by Symantec products (antivirus, security, etc.)"

AND you don't have those oftwares then yes - you should stop them frim running.

Yes, Steve, they are allied with ccApp (c:\program files\common files\symantec shared\ccApp.exe). I've just now disabled it in Startup Manager and stopped the processes in Task Manager. I'll set this post as resolved in an hour or two when I see that there are no problems. Thanks again. :)

Well when I rebooted I'm afraid all the aforesaid items were back in Task Manager. :(

However, I went into 'Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services' and changed the settings for the items mentioned from 'Started' 'Automatic' to 'Stopped' 'Manual'. I rebooted again and checked out Task Manager and found that none of the items were now on the Processes list. Success! :)
