I'm trying to install Win2000Pro and get a standard alert re upgrading BIOS as I start the upgrade wizard. I have an old IBM Aptiva 2159-S90 -- can anyone (1) tell me whether I need to upgrade my BIOS and/or (2) point me to a BIOS upgrade for this machine that supports Win2000Pro? Thanks for your help.:)

    fogbom,

First of all, welcome to the board! I have no experience upgrading to Win2000, but I can tell you that you probably will not be able to find an upgrade to your BIOS. The latest BIOS for your system is BSTxx4I (BSTUS4I on US systems)
on Aptivas with the A-2 motherboard and the ATI 3D Rage graphics chipset and level BFLxx4N (BFLUS4N on US systems) on Aptivas with the A-1 motherboard and the SiS graphics chipset. The release date is 2-11-99. There have been no IBM updates since that one. I use to have that BIOS update, which also works for the 2176 and 2134 systems, but I can't find it. If I do find it, I'll post back. Check your BIOS information though. You may already have the newest one.

Can you get pass the BIOS upgrade warning? That may be the easiest thing to do.

    Mike
