I recently got shaw@home cable internet service installed on my windows 95 system. All was well until I had the bright idea to re-install w95 because of various other error messages.
All those are fixed but now I get a Dns error: the page cannot be displayed message, whenever I open my ie5 browser.

I tried their tech help (shaw) and they pinged me (whatever that is) and told me I have the connection setup right. Also my msn messenger still works so I know I have a connection lto the internet.

The technitian told me that she thinks it may be a winsock error
and I am lost, I searched the topic here but although there were similiar problems, there was not one like this and the one's that were there might as well been in martian because I have no clue on this particular subject.

I there someone who can tell me what the registry etc. is supposed to look like for this. It seems so simple yet remains elusive.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated, and please be patient as I have to keep crossing the street to use another pewter to check this forum.

    Thanks in advance, Zigger

If it is a winsock error, a complete set of instructions on repairing it on Win95b can be found here and for Win95a
    here

Hopefully, the people across the street will let you print out the page you need. ;)
