I'm using BIND version 9.5.0 on my Windows 7 Ultimate Workstation.
Everyting works just fine, but sometimes, at random, the service "ISC BIND" stops working. This happens really at random: some days without a glitch. Restarting the service starts it working again.
I can't see anything in the Event Viewer.
Has anyone an idea what could cause this to happen?

Is the service set to Automatic?
Curious as to why you a using bind on a non-server operating system.

yes, the service is set to " "Automatic" and it starts with the OS.
running BIND on a non-server OS is no problem and it has besides being fun also a couple of advantages.

Are you also running a server? (apache, iis, etc)
If not, then BIND really won't be doing anything. It needs a config and zone file.
    BIND on Windows

It's probably not fully compatable with Windows 7. This is from the most recent BIND readme:
2003 & 2008 refer to Windows Server OS

yes, I run Apache HTTP server and I have my zones configured. Everything works just fine but sometimes the BIND service craches; restarting the service and everything is running again. Maybe I should install an upgrade of BIND from version 9.5.0 to 9.7.2 (latest)?

I have installed BIND version 9.7.2 now. It runs without any problems (as did the previous version 9.5.0). I'll keep you informed as to how it behaves and not craches in a few days.

    Good to know that.
There's always bugs when using software that's experimental.
