Thanks so much for building and maintaining this site- lots of great help in these forums.

My fiancee's computer got infected with DMVlite and quite a few other viruses. I am wondering if it would be easier to reinstall windows rather than go through the whole process of HijackThis and other anti-spyware programs. It sounds like this DMVlite is not easy to remove, and if we just backed up her files and just reinstalled windows it might be easier and more thorough.

Please let me know if you recommend this solution. If this will not remove the viruses then I'd like to go through the process that you have helped others through using HiJackThis.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Cheers,

    Rob

    Last fixes made

    Lonny,

I made the last two fixes. Things seem to be running well, no pop-ups. However, the DMVlite still shows up in the Add/Remove Programs window in Control Panel. Should I try to remove this?

Thanks again for your help (and my fiancee wants me to thank you personally as well!)!

Let me know if I should do anything about the DMVLite in the Add/Remove programs, or if there is anything else I should try to clean up.

    Thanks!

    Rob

    Hello

Open SpyBot change to advanced mode > tools > uninstall info, delete dmvlite there.

    Regards

    Thank You!!!

    Lonny,

A HUGE thank you from both me and my fiancee. The computer is fun and useful again! What a difference! And you saved us the trouble of reinstalling windows which saves us a big hassle.

    Cheers, and best regards,

    Rob
