Getting the following messages on my start page:
    1) Could not load or run dllreg.exe in the WIN.INI file. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the WIN.INI file.

    2) Windows cannot find VKRAS.exe This program is needed for opening files of type "Application ".

Number 2 is a real problem because I cannot open any of my Program files including my Eudora e-mail. I can get on the Internet, however.
In trying to correct the problem, I haven't been able to get to the necessary files. I cannot even get into Add/Remove Files to run the Recovery Disc.

I have been having a problem with virus's and recently had the processor in for that problem.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Your antivirus has detected and quarantined a virus(s).

First, download and run EXEFIX08 from here

    http://home.earthlink.net/~rmbox/Reticulated/Only_IE.html

If this program does not run, then it was the SWEN virus. Then, download EXEFIX08.INF from the same site. To run it, select the file, right mouse, install. (this will correct the EXE problem)

Then, download and run the SWEN Removal tool. It will fix the other registry entries that were modified.

    http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_remtext.php?id=swen

If the EXEFIX runs, then the virus was other than SWEN.

You should still do a full virus scan with updated definitions to check.

Also, go into the options of your antivirus and change any that say Automatic, to say Ask Me. (or the equivalent).

You always want the AV to tell you what it found (the virus name) and ask you what to do. You can then tell it to attempt to quarantine the virus.

But at least now, you will know that you were infected, and with which virus.

For your first problem, do Start > Run > WIN.ini
Scroll to the RUN statement and remove the reference to DLLREG

    The line should look like
    Run=

DLLREG could be the Dumarua virus

Who ever cleaned your viruses, didn't do a very good job. The dllreg is a virus/worm, sounds like you fell for the email from "Microsoft" to download this patch immediately. Numerous viruses use this file.. Look here.

Cant find anything on vkras, but would suspect it also is virus related.

    New problem

I was able to get rid of VKRAS.exe by running the Recovery Disk, but that didn't take away the message about dllreg.exe
I did as you said by going to Start-Run-WIN.INI and scrolled to run= dllreg.exe and deleted dllreg
That must have made Windows mad, because now I get a warning from Windows which states "Modifying the contents of this folder may cause your programs to stop working correctly.
Then it says view list which shows a multitude of files.
When I X that notice out, everything freezes and I have to re-boot and then get the same message.
    Any suggestions?
This whole thing started when I was notified that my computer was attacking others. So I took it in for a virus clean which cost me $50. To save money they told me to run the Recovery Disk.
    Thanks!

That is just a warning to stop folks who are just poking around and may not know what they are doing.
You can use Notepad to open Win.Ini and not get that warning.
