Displaying twitter tweets in a pop-up window / bubble?

I'm running some graphics at a conference on a laptop. I was asked whether it's possible to have tweets appear, OVER the other graphics, in small windows or bubbles, for a few seconds, then vanish again. This would be during dinner while either running slideshows, showing a still image (logo), or maybe a video or two.

I know that tweets could be displayed on the twitter webpage, but is there free software to make the tv-show style popups appear as described?

I'm not much a tweeter so I am not familiar with various twitter apps. But I'd like to know.

 

Twittalert might be a possibility. The first link will take you to a description of it, and the link to the developer website is below that. This is not something that I have used, so cannot say for sure that it will do what you want. It is freeware.
