    I have Windows XP installed on my computer but I don't have that icon that allows me to display the desktop from an internet page. How can I go about securing that type of icon so that I can put it on the taskbar? Thank you very much.

    Paste the following into notepad. Save it as "Show Desktop.scf" Then move it to the "%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch" folder.

    Code:
    [Shell]
    Command=2
    IconFile=explorer.exe,3
    [Taskbar]
    Command=ToggleDesktop

    Or, use the keyboard ... the Winkey (Windows key ... adjacent to the Alt key on a full-size keyboard) +d will toggle between the Desktop screen and the active window.

    Hi abx,
    In case you need a reminder about the QuickLaunch Toolbar, see your post made a few hours:
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=58316

    The "Show the desktop" icon/shortcut should be in the quicklaunch toolbar already. If not Davids suggestion will reproduce it and put it there.

    Was there a problem??

    Ann ...

    I suggested the keyboard option because I don't use the QL toolbar ... I usually have at least half a dozen windows open and, even with a screen resolution of 1280x1024, I don't have room for it (and probably wouldn't use it if I did ... that's what the Start menu is for :)).
