display tremor

    At various times my display develops a horizontal tremor (probably similar to when the volume control is set too high, which it isn't).

    I had, in the past, suspected the video card. I removed it, cleaned the contacts and reseated - that appeared to correct the problem, but it does occur every so often. Now, a firm rap on the front side of the case stops the tremor.

    The comp. is about 4½ yrs. old, my thought is that the video card may be on its way out. I'm searching for other possible reasons, I guess.

    My PCI slots are all used.

    You may have found the answer, but a rap on the case jolts the whole assembly.

    I would check and remake all connections - power supplies, ribbon cables, etc.
