display settings keep changing

    I have a problem with the display settings on an old Dell that runs Windows 95 (4.00.950 B) 32MB RAM
    When I reboot, sometimes it will revert back to previous display settings. Other times, it is sitting idle, I'll hear a chirp noise and it will change the display settings back to the previous settings.
    No viruses.
    No problems in Device Manager
    No errors messages on bootup
    Checked Network settings
    Updated display drivers
    I'm trying to fix this for a friend and it has me stumped. Never seen this before. :confused:
