Display drivers Windows 8

    Hi again

    I decided to install Windows 8 developer prewiev on an old HP laptop #zd8390ea.
    One of the main problems with my installation is the lack of proper graphic drivers for at least my graphics card ( ATI mobility radeon X600). Windows 8 loads a default driver and will not recognize brand nor type of card. I've tried to use both Win XP drivers and supposedly compatible Win 7 drivers with no success. :(
    So any suggestions what do is appreciated.

    Since HP only has XP drivers available you'll most likely be out of luck.

    You could try the Vista AMD Catalyst™ Display Driver, but no guarantee that will work on your HP.

    Driver install - continued

    Thanks for the suggestion but installationprogram halts with message 'Failed to find any installable components'
    When you look at the table of supported chipsets I think that the entry of X600 is the chipset of a desktop grapics card otherwise teey are usually listed under 'mobility radeon'
    But I'm open to any suggestions :)
    It's said that there is a way to copy an altered inf-file into the installationprogram to get it to recognize installed hardware but I'm not confident how to handle such a solution. A lesson in driverhacking 1A for morons maybe? :eek:
