for a variety of reasons I was had to use my recovery disk on my hp8250 pavilion so that I could disable my onboard display and install my new pci driver card.. well now it will not boot up to the new card nor will the onboard work. I tried the vrq jumper in both places no joy. I get a long beep followed by 2 shorts beeps.. hp has stopped answering my questions.. so I have 2 questions is there something I can do to force it to see that new card ? or is there some keys I can use during power up to re-enable the on board display driver... thanx tom

    Tom,

I am not familiar with HP, but some general thoughts:

On Award bios long beep plus 3 short beeps indicates video card not found - suspect your beeps mean the same whatever your bios.

Try removing the video card and replacing it - it may not be seated correctly.

Try it in another PCI slot

Check video card in another PC if possible - could be faulty?

As a last resort you could try the recovery disk again - assuming it would work without the monitor - rather doubtful.

    Good luck with this.
