diskpart in recovery console

I have a question about diskpart. Particularly as it relates to recovery console vs within the operating system.
In the past I have used diskpart from a command prompt within windows xp to create extended partitions, logical partitions, and extend existing partitions.
Yesterday I was doing a fresh install and I wanted to setup my hard drive before I installed the OS. So I started diskpart within recover console and found for me anyway a different interface. It would only let me create a partition for the install. Is there a way to get to the same diskpart interface and create multiple partitions from within the recovery console.

Unfortunately not, the Recovery Console Diskpart is completely different to the command line DiskPart – Note the subtle difference in the use of Capital letters in the name. I was also a bit miffed when I discovered this.
