    OH My,

This may not be your case BUT, this is where having more than one partition and storing all downloaded things on a separate partition comes in very handy.

I put XP pro on top of 98 SE and still had to re-install a few things that XP decided that I did not need or did not pickup properly.

My AVG and Kreio had to be re-installed. But they were on another partition so they were readily available.

EVERYTHING that I download is stored on other than the C: drive. Makes for much less problems.

    PHILIP,

My guess is that it was always there. You just couldn't find the icon for it. XP is designed to support multiple user and create 'All Programs' folders for each user. I upgraded my daughter's 98 machine to XP Pro and experienced the same behavior. Folders for programs that I knew she had installed were no longer on the start button.

The reason for this was XP saw her old account as different from the new one I created during the upgrade. Her new account wasn't allowed access to the folders from the old account. I had to go into explorer and manually copy the folders to her new account.

I'm not at an XP machine but I think the profile path is C:\Documents and Settings\ "profile name ". You should be able to find any shortcuts you are looking for in the profile of your old account.
