disk write errorâ€

    I keep getting this "disk write error" when trying to install updates for wins 2000 pro ., either SP2 or SP3, !!!!!!!!!!!



    Totally ****** off!

    Cannot install update for wins 2000 pro, either SP2 or SP3, due to "disk write errorâ€


    How do you run scandisk in wins 2000 pro?

    i select C "properties-error check,,,,,,then reboot
    what step am i missing?

    Open My Computer, right click on the drive you want to scan. Select properties and then the Tools tab. Click on the Check now button. It should look familar to you as it has the same menu as Win98.

    Or open a cmd window (not command but cmd) and do a chkdsk X: (where x: is the drive you want scanned) for a read-only scan.

    To repair errors, I also prefer chkdsk and using the /f switch for a quick repair (like the 98 Standard) or /r (complete).

    If you are doing it on the system disk, it will tell you it can't get exclusive access to the disk and suggest doing the scan/repair at next reboot. Say Yes.
