    Running winXP home with SP2.

Put a disk into cy D drive and now cannot extract iot. Hitting the button on the tower for that drive has power light turn on but tray does not come out. When I go to My Computer and open and then right click on D drive and then "eject" nothing.
    Suggestions appreciated.

If you look carefully at the front face of the drive you will see a small hole maybe a millimeter or slightly more in diameter. This is the emergency eject hole.

Straighten out part of a paper clip and insert it in the hole until you feel resistance - then push a little harder to unlatch the mechanism and release the tray.

Another way is to hold CD drive tray button, and restart computer.

Following your advice-I olooked and I looked and I looked. Then I said to myself- "He said it is a small hole" So I looked again and lo and behold my 86 year old eyes found it. Fantastic when I stuck the straightened paper clip into the hole the tray flew open|| Thanks a million.
