My main goal is to make an image of an XP SP2 disk. If it's capable of creating images of Linux file systems there's a big plus! The disk is on a notebook without a floppy drive.

    The main contenders are:

    Acronis True Image 8.0
    Symantec Norton Ghost 9.0
    Symantec LiveState 3.0

If you could come up with other interesting suites, please don't hesitate to reply to this topic :)

What software would you recommend and why?

    Hi svarreby

    I personally prefer Norton Ghost.
I've used it since 2001 for imaging my Fat32, NTFS and linux partitions.
I can't think of a time it ever failed.

Then maybe I've been lucky. :)
