disk defragment

    I see Diffrent Disk Defragment Programs On the internet. Whats Wrong With The Windows Defragment? Is there anything Diffrent From Windows Defragment And Other Defragment Programs?

    The inbuilt defragmenter is a basic tool. Other defragment tools add more bells & whistles and in general do a more good & thorough job of defragmenting than the inbuilt one. Some may even include MFT,Pagefile, directory defragmentation.

    The basic built in defragger in XP is written by Diskeeper (Executive Software/Diskeeper.com) and is very basic.

    They offer other versions Diskeeper Home - Diskeeper Pro which are far more inteligent and much better equipped for the task and have the ability to run as and when needed automatically. I have used Diskeeper for years, currently Diskeeper 10 Pro and find that it does an excellent job.

    I use Perfect Disc 7.

    One advantage is that it will defrag a disc with very little spare space available.

    Hi ... You know I went and got the pro version too , Though I didn't really notice that much more improvement , So I asked for an refund which they gave me , Windows I think does a fine enough job as is

    Terry, the Pro version has many things which the Windows inbuilt defragger lacks. Chief among them are - defragment page files, directories & MFT. Its also faster & can be run automatically as per the condition of the volume.
