Someone mentioned to me about a program that they considered the best recovery of data apps available. The only information they had was it sounded like " ER? COMMANDER" in it. Supposed to retail about $ 800.00, or there about.

If any of you have heard of this please reply with all information you may have available.

    Thank you

Actually, the whole Winternals Administrator's Pak is cheaper than that. They are dynamite apps. Booting from the ERD CD brings you to a Windows-like interface that allows you complete access to all the files on an NTFS volume for recovery and repair.

A network is installed so you can access the internet or other machines for file transfer.

A registry editor is available as well as chkdsk (the volume can be dismounted so chkdsk can be run without a reboot----ERD is memory-resident).

Drivers can be uninstalled, updated, or disabled if they are interfering with normal boot.

You can reset passwords that may have been lost.

It is expensive, but considering that the price is actually the price of NTFS file security, it is beyond the reach of hoodlums who may want to use it to steal their grandmother's credit card number, and at least breeching that security is not a cheap proposition.

Many of the files on the CD are MS files---it is probable that MS did not give rights cheaply, either, knowing and in consideration of what was at stake.

But many things stored on some computers are worth far more than the price of ERD to those that need the data recovered.

    Take the tour:
