I just installed Microsoft Office XP. Now, every time I open a document in Word, I get an annoying message saying "The macros in this project are disabled. Please refer to the online help or documentation of the host application to determine how to enable macros." I don't WANT to enable macros. I just want these annoying warnings to go away. I want to keep macros disabled. I do not want to certify that any macros are OK. I just want to be able to open and close documents without these [expletives deleted] warnings. Can anyone tell me how to do that? When I looked in the help file, all I could find was how to enable macros or how to certify that particular macros are OK.

    TIA

I appreciate the info, but in fact the FAQ does not deal with the question I asked. I don't want to know how to turn off a warning about Word macro viruses; rather, I want to turn off the message telling me that the macros are disabled. Every time I open or close a Word document, I'm told that the macros in this project are disabled and I should refer to online help to learn how to enable macros. I don't WANT to enable macros. I just want to DISABLE this irritating message! It pops up all the time and serves absolutely no useful purpose. If anyone knows how to do this, I'd appreciate your help.

In that Tools>Macro>Security PeteC posted, go to the Trusted Sources tab and put a check mark in "Trust all installed add-ins and templates," click OK to save changes.

    Sorry...misread your original question.

Thanks, PeteC and Miz. However, when I went where you said, I found that "trust all installed add-ins and templates" was already checked. I suppose I could try dropping my security level from "high" to "medium," but given all the problems with Microsoft in general and Word macros in particular, I'm reluctant to do that. Besides, it sounds as if I'll still be prompted each time as to whether or not I want to run a macro. I don't want to be prompted. I don't want to run other people's macros. I don't want to be told the macros are disabled. Why can't I say "fine, leave them disabled" once and for all and not be pestered every time I open or close a file?
