I can't find any threads on this issue, so I'm posting a new one.

I have two computers on a home network. One of them has a webcam. They both are on the same MSN account.

Whichever machine is logged in to MSN second, it takes over Live Messenger from the first one to log in. I'd like to restrict Live Messenger to one particular box and not have it overridden.

I've tried removing the program, but then my browser won't start. I was thinking of going into the code and doing a "GOTO" the end, but can't get the DOS editor to access LM.

It's not a show stopper, as we use LM very infrequently, but it's one of those "damnits" that really are irritating.

    Any ideas?

    Pete:

I have previously used the "Remove Program" feature to try and knock Live Messenger off, but my MSN Explorer won't run if Live Messenger isn't there.

I just tried the "Disable" instructions from the clickable link in your post but can't find "Windows Messenger" or "Windows Live Messenger" in the "services.msc" listing. I'm running XP SP3, so I expected to see "Windows Messenger ".

Don't think I can help further as I use neither Windows Live Messenger nor MSN :)

Quite honestly, Pete, I could live without it!. It's just a nuisance having that pop-up appear when DW logs in on the other box. About the only use we make of it is for "pseudo-live" TV with our son and wife who emigrated to Japan a year ago.

I do have a question about the forum that you may be able to answer. When I try to use the quick reply at the bottom of the thread, I get a message that I'm not authorised to do that without logging in, even though I am logged in at the time.

Is there an odd rule about the quick response feature?

Are you allowing cookies for WindowsBBS - if/when you first log in have you checked the Remember Me box?
No - if you continue to have problems contact Arie - he is the only one who can sort out a problem with the BBS software.
