I am trying to disable access to my home network for a limited account user on my laptop. I disabled network discovery and file sharing but I can open My Computer in the limited account and type \\My Network Name and open the files on my desktop as well as my NAS.

Do I have to set all other computers to restrict access to them or is there a way or another setting to disable access from the laptop.

    Thanks

This should do the job and you should only need to set it up on your own computer. That will keep your private files private. Blocking network access to one individual can be done with parental controls which you would have to download software for, but this would have to be set up on every computer on the network.

    Thanks but this isn't what I had in mind. I have 3 computers - 1 XPP - 1 - Vista HP and 1 Win7 Pro

All are on the same home network but I only want to block one user on the Vista HP machine from accessing the network. I don't want to limit any other users on other machines

Easy: In the account, just disable the network connection. A limited account user has no access to be able to re-enable it without knowing the Admin password.

The only drawback is that if you enable the Network connection in a normal account you'd have to disable it again before the limited user logs into his account.

What I mean to say is that it is a machine setting, not an account setting.

    Thanks Arie:
I just found and installed Steady State from MS and that has done the trick.
