DirectX (r) 8.1 compatible sound card

I have been trying to install Sparkling Ice Show on my computer for my daughter. It was a Xmas present and she sure is being patient. I want to know what is Direct (r) 8.1 compatible sound card?
How do I get it? How is it installed? Thank you for any help possible.

 

If the computer in question was manufactured in the last 6 years, the sound card that is in it should be.
Are you getting a message about this when installing? or is it listed on the box?
If listed on the box try installing it the software.
However, if when installing you get a message that the DirectX drivers needs updating, that is another matter entirely.
You haven't stated which version of Windows you are running. Win95 does not have DirectX at all unless installed. Win98 and above does.
You can check the DirectX version by going to Start\Run, type in DXDIAG then press Enter. If the screen flashes off and on, not to worry, it does this testing your system. You should then have a window saying DirectX Diagnostic Tool, read through it for DirectX Version.

 

Thank you I will try what you suggested. By the way I have Win98. I will let you know the out come. Will probably try in the next few days.
