I keep several games installed on my computer to entertain younger guests.

I have Vista Ultimate Service Pack 1 (6.0, Build 6001). Should the Microsoft DirectX End-User Runtime, Date Published 8/8/2008, Version 9.24.1400 be installed? I have downloaded the program but after I read that it can not be uninstalled I am not sure if I should install the download or not.

    Thanks!

Hi June. Vista includes DirectX 10 but I have downloaded DirectX 9.0c from the Microsoft website and installed it without a problem. If you want to be safe I would suggest you create a system restore point before installing DirectX 9. I find that by installing DirectX 9, older games will be more compatible with Vista since DirectX 10 is still pretty new.
