I am running Windows XP Pro, and when I try to install DirectX 9.0, or 9.0b (even one of the Updates on the Windows site), it tells me that the software I am trying to install doesn't pass the Microsoft Logo Test, and cancels the installation. What's the deal with this?

One of the programs that comes with DirectX 9.0 is Age of Mythology, which is licensed by Microsoft, and distributed by Microsoft. I don't get what the issue is.

    Any help?

This is one of the very first ms kb articles I clicked on while googling this problem. See if this helps and if not, I or another, will come up with something else:

    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=kb;en-us;828031

The above fix is rather dated based on an older patch. If this didn't work and does not apply to you, you may wish to consider the link below. ( After following the link provided, see the sublink referencing your worded "logo blah-blah " error)

None of their solutions on the Troubleshooting fixed the problem, and the article doesn't help because I don't have the security update they mention installed.

    It's really weird.

I figured out the problem. It turns out it was as simple as updating my Video Card driver. I assumed that I had the most recent version, which I realize now was silly.
