My computer is a Compaq Presario C700 running on Windows Vista Basic. Its about 5 months old.

Recently (past two weeks) whenever I move a file or delete a file, the dialog box which says 'Moving File' or 'Deleting File' doesn't close after it has finished.

The only way that I can manually get rid of it is to go to Task Manager and click 'End Task'. However I know that it should automatically go away.

Is there anyway I can fix this?

Hi Grace. Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Have you tried shutting down all backround progams that are running in the system tray in the taskbar? One of the programs could be conflicting with the copy or deleting process in windows. Click Start< Control Panel< Add/Remove Programs and remove any programs that you don't use. Do you have Windows Vista Service Pack 1 installed? Try restarting the computer and boot into safe mode. Can you copy or delete a file there and does the dialog window dissapear after its done in Safe Mode? Let me know.
