Stupid question, maybe, and I'm sure I have better things to worry about, but...just yesterday, when connecting to the net, our computer started making ticking noises while dialing up, rather than the usual touch tone beeps and boops...anyone know why, or what we might need to do (if anything) about it? Thanks for dealing with the inconsequential.

You didn't say what OS, Barb, but it sounds like your dial-up switched to pulse dialing. You can change it back, depending on OS, in Control Panel, Modem, or Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options, or right-click your connection in Dial-Up Networking, or Network Connections.
