I'm running WIN XP Professional. When I open IE and the dialing starts, it keeps dialing and can open 100 dialing windows until I stop it. Usually one of the windows connects and I have to shut all the multiple windows. This doesn't happen everytime, but I can tell when it will happen because when the dialing screen opens, the letters in the boxes are blinking. When the letters do not blink, I only get one dialing window that opens.
This did not happen from the beginning when I got this laptop, but seems to have developed recently. Anyone have any idea what is causing this?

    Hello ackerberg

First thing to do is check for the possibilty of malware in the form of a dialer or something that wants to call home when it detects an attempt at a internet connection - sounds a lot like that is what is happening.

When this is occuring, bring up the TaskManager and see whats running. Is there something(s) running besides your normal app that you initiate connection with?

And download/install and update immediately before using:
