I have a soltek 75drv5 Mobo with an Athlon XP 1700 cpu, 256 Mb PC2700 DDR333 ram, Hercules Prophet 4500 Graphics Card.

The whole lot has been freezing often, sometimes once or twice a day, other times freezing so often as to make starting the machine impossible. It is running Win2k pro. At first I thought it was a windows problem , but stop errors indicated a hardware problem and it can lock up when in BIOS or if I boot into DOS.

It is still under warranty, but before I send it back to the suppliers, can anyone recommend any diagnostic software I can use to determine whether the problem lies in the MoBo or in a bad memory stick or Graphics card. I dont have any spare compatible memory sticks to put in, so I can't try a known-good version.

    Thanks.

Not that this means much but when indought go intel. Have you gone to the windows update page and downloaded all the updates or "bug" patches. I would also make sure that i have current drivers on the graphics card. The one that comes in the box is, more often then not, old and needs updateing. You can also try Norton system works, it's cheap and it works pretty well.
