I run a school domain MS Server 2008 Standard Edition and predominantly XP Pro Workstations; this has been running pretty stable for about a year now. Recently though, I'm getting notifications of DHCP Conflicts. I have tried Ipconfig / flush and renew but notice the same IP address gets allocated. ***.***.**.204 and 205

Nothing seems to be actually sharing these IP addresses but I have a vague memory that when the domain was under a different name running Server 2003 these 2 addresses which were then outside the scope had been assigned to wireless devices which are no longer around. The scope has been extended now and includes them.

Is there a way I can tell the system to ignore those 2 addresses to see if that solves the issue?

    An Update:

Recently I ran a Spiceworks report from the Server and can see where my conflicts are arising.

The Installer who put in managed switches and allocated them IP addresses which were at the time outside the scope.

Since we extended the scope those are now included. From the Spiceworks report I can now see those switches although they are not visible in the DHCP database. Some of those IP addresses in the new extended scope also also being allocated to PCs.

What would be my best way round sorting it out? Perhaps setting the IP addresses for the switches as Reservations, will the the computers then pick up fresh IP addresses next time they log on?

    Sounds like a plan :)

Let us know how you get on. FWIW I think the reason you've had little response is perhaps because this would have been more suited to the networking forum?
