We have one win2k domain and two sites configured in AD; UK and USA.
UK is working fine with a DFS root and one DFS link, purely to distribute the load of our files accross two servers. For the USA site I have built the server here in the uk with the aid of a 2k machine as a router to mimic the conection to the USA, with the intent to ship the hard disks over to the USA when it is complete.
I can ping servers in each site by IP, name, FQDN etc and AD installed with no problems on the new USA server.
I want to add a DFS root replica on the USA server in order to replicate our entire file structure from UK to USA and v/v.
I can create a root replica no problems and configure the replication policy but no replication occurs
    .
All I get is two errors in the event log saying :serverA is having problems replicating to serverB retrying.
and serverB is having problems replicating to serverA retrying.
On checking connection of the replicas I get all greens.

Been on microsofts knowledge base and gone through connectivity testing for things like RPC connectivity and FQDN ping as mentioned earlier.
Don't know what else to try short of rebuilding the Network, if AD is corrupt it could have been corrupt for a long time as this is the first time I have tried to replicate.
You don't know how greatfull I would be to solve this one.

Have you checked your DNS for proper config between these two servers?
There is a program called RepAdmin . Check it out and see if you can figure out what is not going on.

    Thanks for your response Eric,
DNS is installed as an AD intergrated zone on both machines and all other AD replication i.e users groups OU's etc are replicating ok.
I do however get a DNS error in the event log Stateing that the DNS server encountered a packet addressed to its self.
I have had that for some time now and its been on the back burner to be resolved if you know what I mean:eek: I am wondering if I am barking up the wrong tree with AD though...
the more I look at this it seems that the AD replication is seperate from the DFS replication. I don't know... Can you enlighten me on that at all?
I will check out the RepAdmin tool, thanks for that.

AD and replication work hand in hand. DFS works off of the AD Replication. So if one isn't working, the other one won't either.
run dcdiag /v and netdiag /v on both of your domain controllers and read the output files. These two programs will report if anything is wrong with Active Directory or networking, (if you know what you are looking for.)
