OK, I checked the MS Knowledge base and sure enough, there is an item having to do with a Sound Blaster Live card, which I have. Re-installed the drivers, no help.

There appears to be 3 actual popups coming up during shutdown. This all started about a week ago. I probably 'messed' with some settings and/or used some utilities to clean up the boot process and applications started. however, nothing that I did seemed to result in this occurring right after I did something. I've looked all over and can't see anything, so it might have been a program I removed cleaning up possibly. Last mess I got into that I can tell might have a bearing was removing a webcam, installing a new one, which had some problems, then another that didn't work well with the system and going back to the one before. That one didn't work with NetMeeting, however, on the second install it did? About that time, these messages started?

I'm running XP Pro with SP 1.

What I see appears to be DEVLDR is shutting down with a choice to shut it down now or cancel and a bar moving indicating when it will shut down. Then another that it wasn't responding which goes away fast, and very fast, something about my HP P100 printer not responding. I re-installed the HP drivers after removing them (got the newest), no help?

Didn't MSCONFIG used to have a way to log the boot process? Can't find it anymore?

    Any suggestions?

You could try replacing the file as per this:

If you rename DEVLDR32 (ver 1.0.0.22) in SYSTEM32, another one will replace it. (First, you need to press Ctrl+Alt+Del and end DEVLDR in Task Manager). But if you use DEVLDR32 (ver 1.0.0.17) from the I386 folder, this problem doesn’t occur. Reboot when finished to reinaugurate the disabled service. (Tip from Terence Shortt, aka tbone8200 on dellTalk.)
