The devices and printers applet, since windows 10 slowly runs a progress bar. When I used all the other versions of windows in the past the printers popped up immediately. This is yet another instance when the workings are a mystery to everyone.

When 10 is probably scanning for new devices. The other OS's just showed you what you've installed.

Hi sussertown. Does the Devices and Printers window in Windows 10 eventually populate and show you the devices connected to your computer or does the progress bar continue to run forever?

Are you seeking Devices and printers from Start > Settings > D & V or Right click Start > Control Panel > Devices and Printers?
Through Settings, there is no delay. Through Control Panel you get a progress bar. :eek:o_O

How long does the window take to show you the Devices?

If you click Start< in the Start search box type, Services and hit enter, is the Bluetooth Support Service set to Automatic and is it Started?

Ok but the service is Started correct? Try unplugging all external devices connected to your machine such as printers or other USB devices and see if the window opens any quicker.

I've just tried both methods I suggested previously but I now have version 1607 W10 Pro (installed last night) and there is NO delay in displaying Devices and Printers either way you try. Plus for Version 1607. :D Neil.

Just checked again and this comp (W10 Pro) HP Notebook ( W10 Home) my Insider comp (W10 Pro Build 14901) all 1607 (Build 14393.51) open immediately through Settings or Control Panel. It may be that your system is not as fast and comparing to mine will not be fair - this comp has 16GB's RAM and the other two are running 8GB's RAM. CPU's will be a little faster too. Do you have something running in the background causing slowness in the comp? Are you using MS Defender or a 3rd. party AV?

Re AV, again to compare my operation - I use MS Defender in all units.
