I've had a working system for months now, but recently I installed a copy of Power DVD 3 and it all went wrong.
I have a PIONEER DVD-ROM DVD-106 drive and it has decided not to work anymore.

What happens now is that it can read the DVD's and CD's. You can view the files but you can not copy or read the files. The DVD's don't play nor do the CD's. If I try to copy a file from a CD or DVD it responds with the following error.

Cannot copy xxxx: the request could not be preformed because of an I/O device error.

    ASPI layer 4.57 (1008) if that's important

Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it?

    Thanks.

Yup. Problem is the ASPI Layer driver you got isn't Win2K friendly. FWIW, version 4.60 (1021) wasn't either.

Best suggestion I can make is to check their site and find the most current drivers that are 2K friendly. The affected files are probably WINASPI.DLL, WNASPI32.DLL, APIX.VXD, ASPIENUM.VXD, ASPI32.SYS.
