I am connected through MTS, using their highspeed internet connection(LAN), when I first open Internet Explorer my home page(any page) takes up to a minute to load just leaving me with a white screen,,, at the bottom of my page, left side, is written "Detecting proxy settings ". When I'm surfing on the internet there are times when this seems to happen between new pages-sites that I open, the page just remains trasparent, somtimes white, with nothing at all written in the bottom left corner of the page. I have tried shutting my computer and high speed box for a few minutes, ran SpyBot, did virus scan, deleted all temp files, deleted temporary internet files, and even shut down a few programs that were running in msconfig. I don't know what else to try, I'm fairly green when it comes to computers, but it seems my old 56K modem was almost faster then my dsl connection.

Sounds like to me you have the "Automatically Detect settings" checked off in the "Automatic configuration " section under the "Lan Settings" that Daizy told you about. Just deselect (uncheck) that setting and you should be fine. Did you just upgrade IE? I have found that this setting is always checked off after installing or reinstalling IE.

    Laters,

I don't think, it's a good idea. The other option would be to configure it manually. I don't think "born" wants that.

Check with your ISP, IF you are required to use proxies.

MTS uses software called Efficent Networks Enternet 300 (PPoE) to hook users up to the internet. THe software itself has all it needs to connect to the Internet and does not need Proxy settings setup in IE. I myself use MTS as my ADSL ISP but switch from using their software when I bought my router.

Correct me if I'm wrong but would not the Proxy settings in IE conflict with the settings in the connection software?
