desperate: icons and start button disappeared

    While uninstalling Google Earth, icons and start button totally disappeared (blank desktop, save wallpaper). Tried Task Manager (through Ctr+Alt+Del), typing explorer.exe >>> nothing. Tried F8 on booting, going to "last time all worked fine" >>> nothing. Help!!!

    Have you tried explorer in safe mode? Available with F8 during boot.
