I can't seem to control my desktop theme settings any more. I have a blue screen that covers up my desktop wall paper. This happened after browsing the internet and contracting some kind of spyware virus. I have recently updated my system with a mc Afee virus/spyware protection. My computer seems to be cleaned but I can't view my wallpaper becuase of this stupid blue screen.

I cannot manipulate, change or correct this in the display properties window. I am running windows XP SP1.

    thanks for any help

Right click on the desktop>properties>desktop tab. Click the customize desktop button and then click on the web tab. Uncheck anything listed in the box under web pages. Also, if the line that says lock desktop items is checked, remove the check from it.

Hey thanks for the reply. I had tried that but it seemed that I was unable to change anything there. It was kind of wierd, because it was only on my log in and not on any of the other three users on the same computer.

I figured another solution though. I simply created another user with admin rights and deleted the one that was giving me the trouble. Once I did that everything seemed to work fine. I think I may have deleted a file that was contaminated after scanning with mcAfee instead of just cleaning it, that I shouldn't have.

But it looks like everything is fine now. Thanks again for the help.
