My desktop has changed on it's own and now I can't get it back.
I have taken a snapshot of it but I am new here and don't know how to send an attachment. Thanks for your patience. Will try to explain. On the left 1/3 is a wide block as seen in folders of new XP. Reduces my working desktop by at least 1/3. Help

Sounds like from your description that you have switched over to an Active Desktop view from classic. Or if you have been using AD already, you are now getting another view than the one you are accustomed to.

Try taking a look in the main "help" section for Active Desktop and see if anything there rings a bell.
