i just got a laptop, with vista premium on it. so far so good, except for one thing. i have my school notes kept in separate files in microsoft word, right on the desktop. for conveniences sake i have the all in a row on the bottom of the screen. problem is, whenever i save them it seems, it will pop back to the first available default spot on the left.

why is it doing this? how can i make it stop??

Make sure that View > Auto Arrange isn't checked (right-click an empty space on the desktop).

i thought about moving them and making shortcuts on the desktop, which is doable, but it just seems strange that i would have to do that, you know? not that its a big deal, its more what is causing it that has me curious.

by snap back i meant what the title of this thread says... it moves to the first available space regardless of where i put it, after saving. but this now seems to only be office/word files...

Any new file I save to the desktop goes to the first available space in the upper left.....If I drag em - edit and then save em, they stay where they were.... If I do a save as and give em a new name the go to first available space...
