I installed a new display card (GEFORCE 6600) and tried a pc game (a car racing game called 'JUICED')last night. Everything went smoothly originally, while suddenly the screen hung with a message saying something like 'file duplicated' or 'file damaged' (but I cannot remember the name of the file).... I could do nothing besides restarting my PC...

After restarting, all desktop icons and even the 'Start' tool bar disappear. I've tried entering the save mode, but it's the same case in save mode as well... no icons, no 'Start' tool bar.

With the wallpaper only, no response to right-click, and no access and operations to any program / function, the only thig I can do is press 'Ctl'+'Alt'+'Del' to restart, and get back to the same trouble....

My friend asks me to just format the machine and reinstall everything, but anybody could help besides formatting?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!!!

Click Here to go to Kelly's Korner.

Scroll down to line 195 and in the right-hand column, click on "Restore Desktop Icons and Taskbar" to download a small vbs file. It'll fit on a floppy if you want to download it on another machine and take it to the one having problems.

Run it according to the directions at the top of that page.
