Windows Vista Desktop Icon Won't Open Full Screen Solution

My desktop icons would not open fully. I had chosen my windows to open stacked and could never go back. I researched for hours and never found a suitable solution. I finally tried this: Close all windows, hold down F11 key and open a desktop icon at same time. Now all my desktop icons open in full window, however, if I wish to toggle to regualr screen it will go back to the stacked size. At least I can open the window full screen until I find a complete fix. Hope this helps some.
