Resolved Desktop Icon [remove tooltip]

    Does anyone know how to disable the address link that opens when you click on an icon on the desktop i nWin7? Thank you.

    In other words - if you click on an icon you want it to NOT work?

    What types of icons?
    Removing the icon might be easier.

    Do you mean the Location 'tool tip' which appears when you hover the mouse over a desktop icon? - if so I think this may be what you are after .....

    How to Enable/Disable ToolTips in Windows

    Be aware that this involves editing the Registry which should not be attempted by anyone not familiar with the Registry.

    If you choose to proceed be sure to export the registry entry to be changed before changing it.

    If it's only Desktop icons you want to remove tooltips from:
    1. Go to Control Panel>Folder Options>View tab
    2. Scroll down to and uncheck "Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items "
    3. Click OK.
