I have been having a problem with Windows XP Home Edition, sometimes when i start my computer when booting in complete, I am unable to click on any of my desktop icons. I can get to somethings thru the start menu, but i am usually unable to get into my computer, my documents or control panel. the desktop acts like it is frozen up. Can anybody give me a solution to this problem.

Your help is greatly appreciated

    Welcome to the BBS!
Have you tried a System Restore to before this problem began? I would suggest using the Quicklinks at the top of this page to run Spybot and RAV scans. I would also delete a shortcut, reboot, replace it and then see if the same faulty behavior happened to the new shortcut. Since it sounds like the problem is intermittent, I would definitely run the scans. If they come up clean, try:
    System File Check.
    SFC
    Start > Run > cmd
    sfc /scannow
You will need your XP cd.
