A friend has a Delta CD-Rom Model OIP-CD4400A which has some nasty properties, the main being that it will only read Audio CD's, and the Windows 98 CD, which at least allowed installation of the O/S.

I have tried CD-R's and CD-RW's with the UDF Reader installed, but none work.

I have found some updated driver's, none of which work, and all message's to the Company website are ignored. Actually most of the so-called links to this site are invalid, almost as if they do not wish to be found.

If anyone could advise me as to the location of a usable driver, I certainly would appreciate it.

You must know windows uses their own driver for cdroms. we only need other drivers for the dos appys of days gone bye! Try a lens cleaning cdrom disk $12 @ officemax. This cd disk has a little brush that wipes the jam sandwich of the pickup lens so the lazer can "SEE" what's on the cd;)

    Many Thanks for the reply.

I had already tried this link and it does not deal with CD Drives, and I had already used a Lens Cleaning CD which did not help.

From what I have been able to discover, it appears that the Windows 98 Driver just does not work with this Drive.

I have a Delta CDRW which is using Win98 drivers and it works fine.

    Try

But, I just looked and I see nothing about CDROMs either.

I best quit while I am still somewhat ahead.

I do not have a Delta CRDW. I forgot that I had switched the Delta to the other machine and put a BusLink CDRW in here.

The Delta is in the other machine as a ATAPI 52X CDROM using Win98 SE driver.

But the Delta does read the CDR & CDRW CDs from the Buslink.

Sorry for the VERY BAD info.

For anyone who does not know what a CR-Rom is, join the queue.

For those who did not suggest I take typing lessons, Thank You.

Now back to the subject at hand.

There is a Delta website for CD's at:- www.deltacdrom.com which lists the various Models offered, but unfortunately OIP-CD4400A is not amongst these. It includes also the following:-

"If you are using Windows 95, 98, 2000, Me, XP and NT you should not need these universal CD-ROM drivers ".

Well, it appears too many others are having the same problem I have encountered for there not to be a problem with this particular Model, but if there were a solution I am sure it would have surfaced by now, so I believe it is time to put this to rest.

Thank You to all who responded.
