I really, really want this to go away. It is appearing on my desktop whenever I first turn on the computer or whenever I resume Windows. It wasn't there until I had a geek come over to work on some other problems, which are also still occurring. But this one first, please?

Apparently the "Media Direct" button is next to the Power button. Are you pressing the Power button hard enough to activate the Media button? Did the "geek" open the laptop and maybe change the position of the wiring.

It is a Dell function, not Vista, so maybe you should ask at the Dell forums

The main suggestions seems to be to disconnect the wires to the button.

Thank you for writing, mattman. Yes, of course it is a Dell problem. I should have been aware of that. I guess I was thinking that y'all just know everything! :D

The button you refer to isn't anywhere near my power button, but that's irrelevant. I am finding so much screwy stuff that I think the geek owes me an free visit.

All work guaranteed? :D Yes, seems like it.

Write down all the screwy stuff, so you can explain it. Hope it's something simple.

Thanks, Matt. To the tune of over $120, you'd better believe it's all written down!
