This is a problem that has started today with a Dell 1501 LCD monitor I bought earlier this year in an on-line auction. I have it running as my secondary monitor through a Matrox G450 dual video card.

The monitor turns on as expected but then after a few minutes an annoying flicker starts and then within a few seconds the whole screen is black with just a flicker along the top.

I can switch it off then get a few minutes use before it starts the flicker-die cycle again.

Does anyone have experience with this problem and perhaps have a suggestion of how to resolve it?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jo

Just providing an update ... I disabled the Ultramon software that enables two taskbars and I also altered the refresh rate on the suspect monitor and since then I've had no problems.

    Thanks for informing us.
I've used UltraMon...good, but seems to use a lot of (graphics) resources.
I wondered about the refresh rate, although others here know more about it than I do. The resolution may also have an effect.

Check the Dell and the Matrox websites. There should be specifications for your models that will let you know their limitations. If you push one or both to their upper limits it may cause problems, especially with a "manipulative" program like UltraMon.
